On August 11, 2026, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized at Lakhanpur village in Ambabhona Block of Bargarh district as part of the Gangashraddha ceremony of the late Rita Behera.
The blood donation drive was jointly organized by the Paschim Odisha Yuva Manch (WOYM) and the residents of Lakhanpur village, turning a solemn occasion of remembrance into an inspiring act of service to humanity.
A total of 30 voluntary blood donors came forward and donated blood for the Burla Blood Bank. The donations included:
- 16 units of O+
- 9 units of B+
- 3 units of AB+
- 2 units of A+
Among the 30 donors were 29 men and 1 woman, each contributing to this noble cause with the spirit of helping those who may need blood in times of emergency.
A Meaningful Tribute
Remembering a loved one through an act that can potentially save lives is a powerful form of tribute. The blood donation camp was not only an expression of respect for the departed soul but also a message that compassion and humanity can continue to live through our actions.
The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to every donor who voluntarily participated and paid tribute to Rita Behera by donating blood. Their contribution transformed a day of remembrance into an opportunity to serve society.
Youth Leading the Way
Special appreciation goes to the young people of Kurumkel village, who, despite living in a forested and relatively remote area, continue to show commitment toward the welfare of society.
Their participation and social responsibility demonstrate that the spirit of community service is not limited by geography or circumstances. The dedication of the local youth serves as an inspiration for others to come forward and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
Humanity Above All
Blood donation is one of the simplest yet most valuable ways to help another person. A single donation can become a source of hope for someone facing a medical emergency.
The 30 units collected during this camp represent more than numbers—they represent 30 acts of kindness, responsibility and humanity.
Through this initiative, the memory of late Rita Behera was honored in a truly meaningful way: by giving others a chance at life.
Heartfelt gratitude to all the blood donors, WOYM, the residents of Lakhanpur, the youth of Kurumkel, and everyone who contributed to making this noble initiative successful.
May the departed soul of Rita Behera rest in peace. 🙏🩸
